Ramsay-Shockey Open Space is next to Pinewood Reservoir about 14 miles west of Loveland, CO. It has 2 trails. The Shoshone Trail starts at the parking area on the north side of Pinewood Reservoir. It travels next to reservoir then through forest and meadows areas. There are pretty views of the reservoir and mountains. The Besant Point Trail skirts the reservoir and could be connected with the Shoshone Trail for a longer hike.
Note that this area requires a permit and there is no place to purchase a day permit at the trailhead. You have to get the permit at visitor center which is a few miles before the trailhead. You gain quite a bit of elevation before you get to the trailhead.
