This is an amazing trail with a few beautiful alpine lakes and stunning peaks all around. There are mountain streams tumbling down the rocks and wildflowers when in bloom. The hike starts at the Long Lake Traihead in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and enters the Indian Peaks Wilderness shortly after the trailhead. The first part of the trail travels next to Long Lake and through some forest before climbing up to Lake Isabelle. Lake Isabelle is beautiful and makes for a nice destination for people wanting a shorter and less strenous hike. The trail gains most of its elevation after Lake Isabelle and climbs steeply up to Pawnee Pass. On the way up and at the pass there are amazing views all around.
