This hike combines the Mt Sanitas, East Ridge and Sanitas Valley trails to make for nice loop hike. It is a relatively short but strenuous hike with over 1300 ft in elevation gain in 3 miles. Assuming travel in a clockwise direction, on the Mt Sanitas Trail section the trail climbs steeply to the Mt Sanitas summit. There are great views of the city of Boulder, the mountains and the valley below. The descent on the East Ridge Trail to the valley below is steep and rugged and can be tricky to navigate. Once on the Sanitas Valley trail you travel through a pleasant valley back towards the trailhead.
