Description

The trail starts from the Mountain Park Day Use Area and within 1 mile the trail splits into the Kreutzer Nature Trail loop or the Mt McConnel Trail loop. The Mt McConnel Trail goes to summit. It travels through forest but there are some great views on the way up and at the summit. You can see the Poudre River below and see the surrounding mountains for miles. This trail is subject to flash flooding so avoid this hike if rain is in the forecast. The eastern part of the Mt McConnel loop is confusing and difficult to navigate but you can alternatively just retrace your route from the summit and hike out the way you hiked in.
